Terms of Reference-2024-2025

The Political Action/Public Relations Committee shall work under the following specific terms of reference:

• Advise the Executive and make recommendations to enhance the profile of political issues within the WRDECE Local, and the greater community.
• Recommend and implement strategies that will foster and encourage greater political involvement with the WRDECE Local.
• To create a broad-based response to political issues, implement engagement and/or activities designed to strengthen the relationship between the WRDECE Local and its sister locals.
• Promote and implement resources, training materials and communication strategies to support political actions.
• Act upon the direction of the WRDECE Local Executive and/or the Federation, regarding matters of a political and/or public relations nature.
• Provide opportunities for membership to engage and learn about political topics of importance, including, but not limited to Central and Local Collective Bargaining, Elections, and legislation.
• Promote and advocate for the WRDECE Local in the greater community.
• Endeavour to introduce all members, especially those new to the WRDECE Local, to the Central and Local Collective Agreements.

The Political Action/Public Relations Committee shall also work under the General Terms of Reference as laid out in the WRDECE Local Reference Handbook, as these reflect the fundamental beliefs that guide the actions of the Local.
